Event Description
We'll start with a tour of the Japanese Tea Garden, then climb up to Stow Lake. We'll explore San Francisco's second highest sand dune, a place known as "the island," even before it was surrounded by water. See a waterfall funded by a railroad tycoon and a nesting tree for California's largest water bird. We'll cross the Roman Bridge and hike up the Carriage Path to the top of Strawberry Hill, the site of the Sweeny Observatory and then descend down Huntington Falls to the Tiapei Pavilion. This tour may be abbreviated, at the discretion of the guide, due to weather.
City Guides is a non-profit organization that offers over 60 tours and has over 200 volunteer guides who research, develop, organize, and lead FREE walking tours that focus on the architecture, history, legends, and lore of San Francisco.
City Guides offers these tours in partnership with San Francisco Parks Alliance and while these tours are free donations are always welcome.
