About Our City Parks Forums

Since 1996, Neighborhood Parks Council (NPC) has established itself as San Francisco's premier park advocacy authority, representing more than 100 park groups, over 50 strategic partner organizations, and 4,000+ park volunteers. Each election year, NPC hosts supervisorial candidate forums that focus specifically on park, recreation, and open space issues. Our goal is to give you the opportunity to learn more about each candidate's knowledge of and positions on these subjects.

While we do not endorse candidates, we do give them "park-friendly" ratings based on a questionnaire th

Founded in 1971, the mission of San Francisco Parks Trust is to provide leadership and support for San Francisco’s parks, recreation centers, and open spaces. Parks Trust’s core strengths include preserving open green space, promoting environmental stewardship, developing outdoor education programs for underserved youth, providing fiscal and fundraising support to community groups, and empowering citizens to improve their neighborhood parks and recreation centers.

In addition to restoration and advocacy, Parks Trust’s more than 3,500 members provide support for a range of original programming, including Street Parks, the Innovator Awards, and the Park Partners Program, through which more than 50 community groups receive fiscal sponsorship, administrative support, and fundraising guidance from Parks Trust.
